Course Description

Offered within a small group setting by a licenced facilitator, the ISW is designed to enhance the teaching effectiveness of both new and experienced educators from all disciplinary backgrounds, teaching adult learners on any topic. This includes the theory and practice of teaching adult learners, the selection and writing of useful learning objectives with accompanying lesson plans, techniques for eliciting learner participation, and suggestions for evaluation of learning.

Participants design and conduct three 10 minute mini-lessons and receive verbal, written and video feedback from the other participants who have been learners in the lessons.

  • Facilitated using a peer-based model of feedback versus an expert model

  • Use of an instructional design model (BOPPPS/CARD)

  • 3 distinct opportunities for participants to teach a 10 minute mini-lesson to the group and receive feedback from each member of the group (not the facilitator)

  • Confidentiality regarding all the group processes

  • Group discussions on pedagogical issues

  • A focus on active learning and active listening

  • An internationally recognized ISW certificate.

An International Certificate

Completing the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) will provide participants with a certificate of completion that is internationally recognized.
